We recently got to see our friend Nick Rosario perform in a local community college production of the musical, Hairspray.

He played the iconic man-as-woman role of Edna Turnblad (John Travolta played this part in the 2007 film adaptation).

Nick is currently at Wright College studying radiography, and being the patron of the arts that he is, found himself in this show.  Thus, during the final weekend we saw him perform while attending with our friends John & Stacey.

Of course, the folks at Wright were sort of terroristic regarding taking photos of the production, so I actually have none of Nick acting.  But I hope you enjoy this shot of an empty stage!

I had never seen Hairspray before, while Amy had seen the movie, so we came into it with different perceptions.  I was glad to know that the whole show wasn't about the haircare products of Alberto Culver, that's for sure!

Glad we had tickets, it was a packed house!

The Wright College stage area is quite small, but it made for an intimate production.  That worked really well for this show, and Nick totally rocked the part… even while he was dressed in drag!
