Over the July 4 holiday, Amy & I visited with my sister Karen and brother-in-law Brian at their home in northeastern Indiana. They live on a lake, which is pretty awesome during the summer months. They are also pretty close to an awesome set of mountain bike trails at nearby Winona Lake.

My sister and I packed up our bikes and spent a morning tackling 5 miles of these hilly trails… before the sweat and 95 degree temperatures got the best of us.

Taking a break from the woods... to ride into a lake?

She ran into a tree once, but I can say that I safely stayed on my bike without being thrown off for a change!

I got to ride about 23 miles over the weekend, both off-road and on pavement around the lake.  It was for times like these that I intentionally bought a hybrid tire to handle multiple surfaces with ease.  Overall, it was quite enjoyable!
